POLFUND Loan Guarantee Fund

POLFUND The Loan Guarantee Fund was established in September 2001. The Fund runs business operations which consist in provision of support for small and medium enterprises (SME) in several forms, including loan guarantees.



POLFUND offers guarantees to companies which apply for a loan in a bank, but haven't got sufficient collateral. To obtain a loan secured, among other things, by POLFUND guarantee, SME has to demonstrate its credit worthiness to the bank.

  • The guarantee can cover all types of loan facilities offered in Polish zloties by a bank.
  • The maximum guarantee level is 70 % of the loan applied for. The guarantee does not cover loan interest or commissions. In special cases the guarantee level may be up to 80% under the JEREMIE Programme in two voivodeships: zachodniopomorskie  and wielkopolskie (read more).
  • Guarantee amount depends on client's need and is actually from 5.000,00 PLN up to 4.000.000,00. The maximum guarantee amount is not more than 5% of the guarantee capital used to grant guarantees.
  • In special cases guarantee maturity may be up to 8 years and the guarantee level may be up to 80%  under the JEREMIE Programme.
  • The principal security of the guarantee is a blank bill of exchange.
  • POLFUND collects an initial fee and a quartely administration fee. Fees start from 0%. There are NO fees under the JEREMIE Programme.
  • No fees for decision process.



POLFUND cooperates with four banks upon the agreements with them:

  • Bank Zachodni WBK S.A. from the beginning
  • PKO BP S.A. from 29 December 2010
  • PEKAO S.A. from 18 May 2011
  • Bank Pocztowy S.A. from 23 November 2011
  • Getin Noble Bank S.A. from 20 December 2012
  • Credit Agricole Bank Polska S.A. from 31 January 2014
  • BZ WBK Lease S.A. and BZ WBK Leasing S.A. from 15 June 2016
  • Raiffeisen POLBANK from 21 September 2016



Depending on the type of a loan, there is an opportunity to obtain a guarantee which meets customers' expectations:

  • Standard guarantee,
  • Term guarantee,
  • Bridge guarantee.

The guarantees are granted to a bank by the POLFUND in response to client's application submitted to that bank. The client enters into Guarantee Agreement with POLFUND and establishes a security of the guarantee. The guarantee can cover loans offered by bank:

  • Current account loans,
  • Credit account loans: working capital loans, investment loans, loans for business operations,
  • Leasing,
  • Guarantees,
  • Other loans.
  • The guarantee cannot covered preferential loans.



Who can use the guarantee?

  • Small and medium enterprises with employment of up to 250 at the maximum.
  • Operations of the enterprise must be governed by the Polish law (the company has to be a resident as construed under foreign currency law).
  • Companies with at least 3 month history of market operations with a preference given to companies with the history of over 1 year.
  • Companies with a good knowledge of the business and market needs, and with a development-oriented operational strategy.
  • Companies which can demonstrate their credit worthiness.
  • The guarantees cannot be used by farming or arms businesses, or companies which carry out environmentally harmful industrial operations.
  • Companies fulfill the criteria "The Found Guarantee Policy”



  • Opportunity to get a loan even if the loan security offered by the company is insufficient
  • Low costs as compared to the cost of establishing other forms of loan security.
